Makoto Kagoshima

This collection is in collaboration with ceramic artist Makoto Kagoshima and Ritsuko Yagi of the Los Angeles gallery Chariots on Fire. It features three vibrant patterns interpreted as screen printed linen and wallpaper.

Based in Kyushu, the southern island of Japan, Makoto Kagoshima’s practice is to draw images on clay. Simple, heart-warming renderings such as roses in exuberant bloom and birds in mid-flight or open song; depict the world he encounters and the visual images that have, since childhood, occupied his dreams. Each illustrated motif remains one of a kind, culminating in a series of distinct, refined techniques and Kagoshima’s vivid expressivity.
